Or visit by parish councillor(s), attendance at parish council meeting
Or hold a balloon debate - split class into groups and each group decides on spokesman, but helps prepare arguments etc
Mantle of the Expert: Advertising campaign to persuade young people to take part in democratic process - vote, join pressure groups, write to MPs etc. This can be related to specific issue if it provides better context

The study is thematic and does not provide the opportunity for in depth study of particular historical periods
Remind learners of the way in which the past society studied in 13, "world history study" was governed eg: Ancient Egypt
Go on to remind them of the development of early democracy in ancient Athens
Look at the way in which suffrage was extended in UK - encourage understanding that it was not always universal!
Go through developments in suffrage and key figures. (Also look at work of key figures in wider world eg: Martin Luthor King)
Geography

Thematic study of way places are governed throughout the world
Refer to ways of government in "less economically developed country" studied earlier
Look at various countries around the world - possibly those in news, and find out what types of government they have -.
Look at areas of conflict and where there are struggles for democracy eg: Zimbabwe
